Unique Construct

Amnion is a composite structure of amniotic membrane graft layers, uniquely arranged to optimize surgical performance and ease of use. The proprietary Purion® Process protects the delicate scaffold during processing, leaving an intact collagen matrix. The result is a durable graft with natural barrier properties that offers surgeons a clear advantage.

Ease of Use

Amnion has been specifically processed for optimum handling and graft placement.

  • Dry tissue preservation for simple application
  • Unique graft embossment for proper orientation
  • 5-year shelf life at room temperature; no special storage required

Features & Benefits

Benefits to Healing

In vivo studies show that the properties of amniotic membrane help reduce scar tissue formation and scar attachment to the dura1. For use as an in vivo wound covering in spine applications, Amnion provides an effective barrier and contributes to the three phases of the natural healing process:

  • Inflammatory Phase
    • Reduces inflammation at the wound site
    • Proliferation Phase
    • Provides a protective barrier; contains a combination of growth factors unique to placental tissue (Collagen types IV, V, and VII)
  • Remodeling Phase
    • Helps reduce scar tissue formation
    • Enhances the normal wound healing process

Safety Assurance

Amnion is processed using Purion,® a unique approach that provides an added level of tissue safety and ease of use.

  • Effective microbial reduction, using Purion System
  • Terminal sterilization using E-Beam, which does not harm Amnion or the matrix structure
  • Amnion is never treated with glutaraldehyde, reducing concerns about potential cytotoxicity
